Preservation and adaptive re-use of historic 1855 Wauregan Hotel into 70 units of moderate income housing, 4,000 s.f. of /retail space, ballroom restoration, and 100-space parking garage.

$14 million

Funded By

Connecticut Housing Finance Authority, Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development, City of Norwich, equity raised through the sale of Historic Tax Credits and Low Income Housing Tax Credits.

Status

Construction started July 2005; completed December 2006.

Unique Aspects of the Project

Becker + Becker’s design, financing and preservation plan reuses a long-abandoned historic structure to meet community and economic development needs while revitalizing these structures at the gateway to the historic downtown.
